Description |
Lieutenant Commander Alexander McMahon attended Leonia Public Schools through the 8th grade and then went on to Bergen Catholic High School. McMahon earned a Bachelor's degree in History and Political Science from Fordham University. He received his commission through the Navy ROTC program at the State University of New York's Maritime College where he later taught Naval Science as an Assistant Professor. Commander McMahon was a member of the Leonia American Legion and participated in Memorial Day events. He served on several ships among them the USS Firebolt as an Operations Officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Among his decorations are the Bronze Star, and three Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medals. He resides in Newport, Rhode Island. (original photos held by the McMahon Family) |
