Leonia's Board of Education met for the first time on January 2, 1895, three weeks after Leonia became a Borough. Then, Leonia had a one-room schoolhouse on Grand Avenue. One document box contains a very fragile book of Board of Education handwritten minutes from meetings 1895-1903, also in fragile condition is a Board of Education ledger containing teacher salaries & other expenditures (1909-1910). High school course descriptions pamphlet with classroom photos from 1918. The remainder are folders containing miscellaneous papers from the 1940s & 50s, teacher salaries (1947), budget (1953), alternative education survey & report (1970 & 71). |
