Admin/Biographical History Dancer, teacher and poet, Sheila Hellman's career began with a fellowship in dance at New York University under Martha Hill. She also studied with Martha Graham, Sophie Maslow and Charles Weidman among others. She was founder of the long-running Story-Time Dance Theater which performed in hundreds of schools as well as at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Town Hall. After developing a dance center at the YM-YWHA of North Jersey, she was appointed their Cultural Arts Director. During her long teaching career, Hellman introduced dance programs into the public schools. Later, she toured the United States as a movement specialist for the National Endowment for the Arts. In the 1990's she began publishing poetry and received poetry fellowships and residencies.
