One document box and 3 flat boxes. Box 2 contains the Shakespeare scrapbook, 96 pages filled with mostly articles and photos taken from magazines and newspapers along with programs and handbills from New York productions spanning the years 1889 thru 1954. Included are photos of the cast from the Leonia Players Guild "An Evening of Shakespeare",and the Shakespeare department's production of "A Winter's Tale" in 1931.
The Shakespeare Club came into existence in 1913 through the iniative of Lillian Elroy Preston. In 1916 the club brought Shakespeare to Leonia's school children by having them act in "Master Skylark" outside in front of the then new high school. The club suspended its activities during World War I and in 1921 it was revived as a department of the Woman's Club.
